update 06 500efi lost all electrical
#1
Doing water wheelies and about 10 mins later the electic started cutting out and all power was lost. It has been 2 weeks and there is still no power. Where should i start looking? Is there a dx(diagnosis) on what to trouble shoot? When I was stuck on the side of the road someone rode by in a truck and said the same thing happened to them and he held up a black box and said it was under the pod, would it be be the ecu/ecm?
edit: I just found this wire by the battery. I can't find where it goes to but it looks like it melted off of something. I havent tried to follow the wire yet.
WW if u look through the account!

Check the kill switch first LOL And then start at the battery and work your way back. Unplug all your connections and check for water intrusion and apply dielectric grease to all the connectorswhile your there. The module is under the front rack, make sure to check the connections there

if your not getting any power when you turn the key on, then do what scrammy said and start at the batter and work towards the pod to make all connections are good and clean. maybe a bad ground or a unhooked wire. usually the key or kill switch is the 2 things that shut off all power.

Is the wire red or black? It looks like it is red with a black sleeve or heat shrink tube. Red will indicate it's a positive connection. It also appears there is a solenoid below the wire. If it came off the solenoid, then it could very well cause a problem with no power.
Examine the solenoid very carefully for any signs of a wire being broken off on one of the terminals. You may need to solder a new eyelet on the end of the wire to reattach it to the solenoid. It would help if you had a schematic of the bike to explain how it should be wired.
The newest 500 schematic I have is a 05, and it is a non EFI version. But the power should be the same.

yes the wire is red with heat shrink. I haven't had time (forgot) to go look somemore. I also found out that my batter was bad(the plastic screw on caps fell off/broke when I tried to clean the caked mud from around them. But I tried another battery and still no power. I will update in a couple of days.

there should be one small red wire going the sol. to power it w/ the key on. if theres no small gauge wire then maybe thats it. some wires maybe there for an accesory to add on after,(hense the heat shrink wrap) for later use. hard to tell from pics.
