im looking at buying one of these for my son i had looked at a 1987 that i heard was a great little atv, does anyone know much about these, are they a pretty sturdy atv for the size.

I have one of these. They are a new model in 1990. They are no speed devils, but solid little suckers. I had to rebuild my starter, redo some wireing, install a new on/off switch, and it burns oil, but that is about it. It still gets used mostly for driving with my son (2.5 yrs old) around grandma's farm. I put some mudlites on the rear and it helped A LOT with not getting stuck. Only thing I wish it had was a kick start as I can not find a good battery that will keep on this sucker.

 

By the way, does yours have the trunk in the back or the standard rack? I have the trunk, but of course my lid is broken off!! I have a picture of it in my pictures [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

this one has trunk minus the lid seems to be pretty standard lol, are all of these semi auto or does some of them have a clutch

 

All from 1990 on are semi auto so you don't have to do a hand clutch or anything. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

ever priced a new lid i have been looking on ebay but no luck

 

About $500. Even on ebay I have been looking for 2 years and only saw one, it had like 80 bids and went for well over $100. I can go without for that price!!!
