Hey i was just wondering besides keeping the air filter clean, changing the oil
often and lubeing the chain what other things should be done to ensure my
2005 450R will always be in top shape and last a long time?

 

Frequent valve adjustments!

Be absolutely sure you do the initial adjustment at 20 hours, after break-in!

I know your owner's manual will say something like every 200 hours after that, but that isn't nearly often enough. Don't go more than 100, and more often will be even better.

 

I have an 07 honda 450r that i recently bought and i am about to bring it into get the valves checked becouse i know it has been close to 20 hours i wish it had an hour guage but i am on my 7th tank of gas so im sure its close.
