Question about polaris 400
#1
Hello,
I have a question concerning my 2001 Polaris sportsman 400 , this mayb sound kind of stupid but I have no idea how to put the damn thing in park! I mean there is a little clip near the brake hand and you can just press the brake handle and clip it to a spot where its braked, but on the "dash" it has a parking light that says "P" but it never lights up. Is it suppose to light up when I apply the brakes and lock it in?
Thanks,
Snippyman

No thats a parking break is all it locks breaks on is all. u have a shifter right? pull back all the way and rock your quad it should stay still. if its in gear it will roll and click as it does. hard to roll it but u get idea. there sould be letters on shifter P is park sometimes they hard to get into park but light should say P

Sorry i was thinking it had a shifter like mine. When its off u can just put it in a gear so it wont roll away. just remember to take it out before u start it. dont think it will start in a gear anyway

Just leaving it in gear will NOT keep it from rollong away. Put the parking brake on if you have to park on a hill or even put it up against a tree. My Scrambler had a park light as well as a low light in the dash and it didn't have either.
