Default Trail Blazer leaking gas

Has anyone seen this problem? I just purchased a 2000 Trail Blazer 250 and twice now the needle and seat in the carb appear to have been blocked open and the gas continued to flow out the overflow tube leaving a big puddle of gas & oil. Haven't had the carb apart yet, but had similar problem with a Honda XR 80, replaced the needle & seat and adjusted the floats and still had the problem there, a couple taps to the side of the carb and it shuts (until next time).

could be time for a rebuild or something in the float valve to hang open

I've had mine for 3 years now and no leak yet, I guess I can look forward to it.
