I have an 01 Yamaha Warrior that has been in storage for a while and now won't start. Engine cranks over fine but no spark at the plug. Does anyone have a troubleshooting guide to follow to determine the problem? I have a wiring diagram and a voltmeter but not sure what to look for. Anybody have tests for primary coil? pickup coil? stator? CDI? Any help is appreciated

 

Thanks for the link. I go through the ignition tomorrow night- hopefully find the faulty (and inexpensive) part.

i had a wolverine that was a pain in the a$$, it ended up being the CDI box, but check the ignition coil too...

 

Thanks for the replies. I've been out of town on business for a while so I haven't gotten a chance to work on the Warrior. I downloaded the manual from the link above but many of the wire colors are different. Also, the CDI on my Warrior has 13 wires but the diagram only shows 12. I don't know if it is a year model difference or what but I am going to try to find an 01 specific manual. The coil checks out fine but because the wire colors are different, I haven't been able to test the pickup coil.
