Default NEED HELP, Warrior backfiring and power issues

My buddy has 98 yamaha warrior and we could use some help please. It will start and idle fine but when you give it a little throttle it backfires. Upon giving it slightly more gas it dies. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Two common things to check would be the intake boot. These are known to tear and allow air in. Sometime it can be hard to see without really checking it out. They run about $50 from a dealer if its bad.

Another could be the Parking brake rev limiter. They are known to not disengadge and cause some problems. Most will disconnect this sensor and even remove the PB which usually doesnt work anyway.

Bad gas or a dirty carb could be issues as well.
