i have a 2006 sportsman 500 efi. i am interested in putting a aftermarket exhaust on, but am being told that i have to get some kind of efi control box if i install the aftermarket exhaust. do i really need it? or are they just trying to sell me more stuff? when i install aftermarket exhausts on my trucks, i didnt have to do any thing special.

 

I have a Hot Seat Performance full exhaust on mine as well as a UNI air filter and I didn't touch anything else. The plug is always a light tan color and the pipe doesn't glow on high speed runs. So you should be safe. Just keep an eye on the plug for the first bit.
