86 250TRX Carb HELP !!
#1
I started to remove the carb on this Honda 250 TRX and have a little problem.. The butterfly throttle shaft is frozen. ( Been sitting for 7 years!!!)I cannot disconnect the throttle cable because the mechanism has to rotate to facilatate disconnecting the throttle cable. I have tap it and applied the throttle but will not come loose..What can I apply to the mechanism to free it up.. I applied some WD40 and let it sit and see tomorrow.. ANy Ideas????
ALSO the choke cable (starter cable) I cannot get to disconnect from the carb.. I have unscrewed the lock nut but it will not come out. I need some more explicit instruction to get it disconnected.

K my Opinion wd-40 (wadoo) isn't that good unless it's used to help keep ign. parts dry (examples coils, cdi modules, plug wires, etc... U could try PB blaster it's better then wadoo and attacks rust +... however not sure if this will work 100% Dennis..........

Hi Dennis
Well it loosened up the butterfly throttle enuf to get it off.. BUT !!! dont think this carb is going to make it.. The butterfly throttle still has to be turned with a pair of pliers and the started valve is frozen in its little cubby hole.. The brass thing broke removing it. The started valve is still stuck in the cubby hole.. Dont look good..
So if ya know of a carb sittin in your junk pile let me know .. OK?? Thx for the help

K rcsron can try to salvage as much as U can let it soak a couple days in in carb. dip (comes in a 1 gal. can) at any auto parts store. no plastic or rubber parst in dip though. ?U can also try a bike salvage yard for other carbs. for the parst otherwise not much choice but to get the new (damaged ones from a DLR.) Let Me Know if this helps any will Keep in touch!! Dennis
