I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure if some of you have already addressed this issue in the past. I have a 2002 375 auto that is a bear to start in cold weather or if it sits for a while between uses. I live in WI and I mostly use it for snow plowing. I bought a Moose dyna-jet kit for it but thought someone here might have some idea how I should set it up. (i'm not a true gear-head.)

Are there any other tweak ideas out there.

One other thing I notice is that the charging system doesn't keep with my extra headlight. Can I juice it up somehow without major work or damage.

I know guys who run a hotter plug in the winter up here. They say it helps with cold starts. I can tell you from my experiences with my machines that if my valves are out of adjustment it has problems starting cold or even when its hot. So you might check taht your valves are adjusted correctly.

Also, use some sort of fuel additive like SeaFoam or Stabil if it removes the water from your fuel system.

Now for your charging system not "keeping up" I would assume to mean that after running the machine, using the winch for the plow, and the added light your battery is not getting charged fully? The winch really takes the juice from the battery (lots of amperage). Check the battery fluid levels and clean all your connections. Then I would suggest a battery trickle charger or maintenace charger. I have one hard wired on both of may machines so when I leave them outside I can plug them in to keep the battery charged up. Mine charge at like .2 amps and have an automatic shutoff so they don't over charge.

I would caution against juicing up your charging system as it could cause some damage. Clean and check all your connections first.

What kind of float charger did you install? Where did you find room?

 

What he is talking about is just a harness attached to the battery post with a pigtail hanging out where you can plug the wall charger into it. You can get them at most auto parts shops and cycle dealers.

 

OK, I can see how a pigtale would be the way to go.

Has anyone installed a dyno-jet kit? Got any tips?
