Default Brand new Prairie-belt adjustment?

My 08 Sunbeam Red Prairie 360 is just three weeks old. Only had a short
chance to ride the day I bought due to weather. Been in garage until today,
when I take him out for a short run. We don't go even 1/8 mile and turn
around and come back, and when I pull into the garage I notice white smoke
and burning smell. On idle, smoke goes away. I pull of CVT cover and all
looks fine. Then I idle him awhile, get some odor but no smoke. Do you
think dealer failed to adjust CVT for altitude as Kawi recommends, or something
else? Thanks

The altitude adjustment has nothing to do w/the belt, it consist of different ramp weights in the clutching. After installing the new ramp weights, then the belt would need to be re-adjusted.
Sounds like your belt is out of adjustment, have the dealer check the belt adjustment or learn to do it yourself. the Nyroc forum has a step by step instructions to do the belt adjustment in the tech section.

Thanks for the info. This business of adjusting the transmission for altitude was
a mystery to me, although I'm familiar with adjusting the carb. I emailed my
Kawi dealer in Cheyenne. He said what I was describing is just that the paint
burns on the exhaust header when the engine gets warm enough on a new
bike, and I did take Prairie out a little today and did not have any smoke, etc.
