I just got a used 2002 Honda Foreman S TRX450FM and I either need some help or ideas. I push the little red button with the R on the left handle in for reverse but it won't go in reverse. The button will depress but it won't stay down and since this is my first Honda ATV I don't know if it's supposed to stay down when you press it or is it just a switch that sends an electronic signal somewhere? All the forward gears work perfectly fine. Can someone explain to me or give me a website for a diagram on how that works so I can try to fix it?

 

The red button is spring loaded to pop back up .. For reverse you have to push down the red (R) button (with the bike in neutral (N), then at the same time squeeze the rear hand brake lever then push down on the gearshift , it should go into reverse .. If it doesn't go into reverse first check the travel of the reverse cable/lever , which is at the lower rear of the engine ..
