I am planning on getting 8" Douglas offset aluminum rims with 20" tires for my Scrambler400. How much of an offset do you guys suggest? I would suppose 2 inches per side?!?!

I don't know?

2 inches per side seems like a lot to me for trail riding. It would definately improve handling but it would make your Scram over 50 inches wide. Watch out fittin between the tree`s. Maybe 1 inch per side would be more reasonable. It all depends on what your trying to achive.HTH

Thanks EasterEgg. I have the 12" Bearclaws on the back now which comes out to 46". It feels much more stable than stock. But with the Razrs it will only be 45" wide.(11" tire width) I would have liked to get around 48" wide...that sounds just perfect. Do they make 1 1/2 offset? Hmmm...could work. The smaller wheels will already give me more stability but with 48" to 49" width, I think it would corner amazing. My Scram lacks cornering ability since there is no compression. I am sick of hitting those expensive brakes! Up front I only want an extra inch per side though.

Do offset wheels place added stress on the axle like spacers would? Just curious.

Check with the wheel manufacturers but I would think you could specify the off set you wanted. Your not going to be as wide as I had thought 48 to 49 inches shouldn`t be too bad. What`s a DS650? They gotta be close to that.

Anything over stock width is going to add stress but what do you care you`ve stressed every part on your machine in the pursuit of a Banshee RIGHT? I don`t think your going to have the axle bearings wear out or bend the axle next week. How much faster will they wear, who knows?

It`s great your thinking about that stuff but it`s hard to speculate increased loads, wear and fatigue on those parts. You play you pay sometimes sooner sometimes later. Good Luck

"In persuit of a Banshee..." my life story! LOL

With all the dough I am putting into this beloved Scrambler, Polaris had better not come out with a "real" high-performance quad with an auto-tranny... I will have a heart-attack! hahaha...

So many things to buy...so little time...so little money leaft...

We are on the same mission. Let me know what you decide and why.

Thanks KD

Pretty much decided Kevin...I think I described it on the other post..."Razrs vs. Holeshots"

Now it's just a money thing!
