Questions On 2004 Yamaha Blaster...Please Help
Hey guys. Just need a little input here about an issue that i've asked about.
I bought the FMF fatty gold series pipe for my 04 blaster. I installed it today.
I was planning on just installing the pipe and skipping the jetting until I took it for a ride after and it seems slower now than with the stock pipe and also 1st gear seems like it is breaking up. I went to the yamaha dealer to ask about jetting it and he told me that it has to be done because it's running too rich. He talked me into having them jet it with that fmf kit that has the jets and the K&N air filter and filter bag. He also said i should have the oil injection blocked off because there are always dry starts with it.
My questions are:
1) Should i go for the oil injection block off? I actually like the idea of not having to mix oil with the gas but how can you tell if the oil is pumping correctly?
2) Dry starts? Is that true?
3)They said they will get the jets and k&n kit for $140.....install it for another $100 and block off the oil injection for another $30...that's $270 total for everythin......is it worth it? I don't know how to do the jetting stuff myself or what to buy.....unless someone will be so kind as to walk me through it.
Thanks guys

i can answer question #3. that is a pretty decent deal because if you bought the pipe, jet kit, and filter it would come out to be around $400 and thats not including having them put it on so to me thats a pretty good deal.

Man that is way to high for them jetting your blaster.$400 might be a good price if that included the pipe also.you can get a K&N jet kit for $45 and a K&N filter for $30 from rockymountainatvmc.com.Installing is easy. All you do is take carb off or turn it to where you can take the bowl off the bottom. Then you screw the old jet out then screw the bigger one in.them prices are from a 2006 catalog so prices might be a little different.

Sounds to me like your bike is running too lean not rich never heard of a motor going rich with an aftermarket pipe installed. When you add more airflow with the pipe you need to add more fuel by putting in a richer or larger jet. I would buy the filter and the block off plate and jet your main up three sizes and let her rip. :0)
