#1
Just had to share the news. tomorrow I pick up my new 2001 AC 500 manual(red). I would like to thank everyone for their answers to my questions and concerns about the cat's features it has been very useful in making my decision.I have taken many months to come to this decision and reading all the different forums has helped greatly.I must say that until a couple months ago I didn't even think about cats. The cat has all the things I wanted-low end power,hi/lo range, liquid cooled, high ground clearance,2wd/4wd,good front differential, reliability, good value. I rode all my choices,Wednesday I rode my final two choices again,Sportsman 400 and ac 500.My final answer AC 500 manual.Well, hope I can sleep tonight. Update soon. thanks for the information.

The cc size didn't make much difference. The biggest thing was the tranny. I always was a gear fan but I tried the sp400 because I thought maybe I'd like it better than shifting gears. However, since I do alot of slow trailriding up the side of a mountain I didn't care for the auto because of constant engine revs needed just to putput up the trail. With the cat gears and low end torque I can practically idle up the mountain. I didn't consider the expedition because it did not have hi/lo range or enough ground clearance. The cat was even $200 less than the sp400. Hope I cleared up the reason for my choice. So far I love it.
