Is you garage heated so you can thaw the machine out? My machine did the same thing early this winter...stuck in low when I went to go move it a few days after plowing. I cranked the mr heater on, machine under a tarp to keep all the heat in, LOTS of snow/water melted off. Something was froze up, she works fine now.
If your garage is cold storage, I'd just try thawing the machine out for a few hours, may take care of it??

if you can actually move the shifter to each gear and nothings unhooked then something inthe tranny is broke or unhooked. take a look at a parts breakdown to get a better understanding of whats in there. try either the polaris site or easier is ronnies.com for a parts look up.

it was extremely cold last week below zero. it's in 30's today i'll put a heater on it when i get home and see if that works i'm also going to find a repair manual to see what's involved if i have to open up the tranny

Most of the time when they stick in a gear it is the old style shifter and it either needs oil or has a broken pivot.

Now when i put it in low the wheels are locked up. in high neutral or rev it goes backwards. after some interrogation of my son i found out that my daughter's friends were using it last week and he heard a lot of gear grinding. i'm convinced that they did some internal damage. i guess the only way to find out is to tear the darn thing apart.
