I'm about to buy a 2005 Sportsman 800 EFI that has 1330 miles on it.
That amount of mileage scares me a little bit.

What things should I check to be sure this quad it ok?

WOW, if a Machine that cost thousands of dollars cant be dependable for at least 7000 miles than its time to make the sport illegal.

 

I have more miles on my 07 500. I'm over 1600 so far. If the bike has been maintained I wouldn't worry too much. Check the CV boots, and wheel bearings, make sure the air box and intake are clean, and look to see if it's been greased. Check the fluid levels and see if they look clean. See if there is a maintenance record somewhere. Just a few starters for you.

 

I would say theats about average milage for somebody that rides. My 2006 800 has 1000 miles and I bought it in November of 2005. Two years old now.

 

I bought mine in Oct 07 and I have 529 miles on it now

 

i would check the exhaust and sounding areas as the 05's did alot of plastic melting becasue lack of protection. this is the first year of the 800 and i have read a few post were they had to redue the engine or lost it like a post in here right now. i would want to pull trans dip stick to see if theres any water in there. if any of the oils have a discolor i would stay away from it. imo.

 

almost 4k on my 06 800 sportsman still runs like new.....although not ridden anymore i now ride my 07 800x2 mostly 1300 is barely broken in ..go for it dont let mileage scare you
