Fuel Injected 07 Rancher Running Too Rich-Help...
#1
I have a 07 Rancher 420ES that burns your eyes when anyone rides behind me. You can also smell the fumes or something that does the same when it is idling and you are near it. It runs fine, Idles ok, other than that, no problems. Is there a history of problems with this? Does anyone know what I might be able to do to fox it? Any help or sugggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Honda typically jets lean to meet emissions requirements, so if your machine is typical, it is hard to imagine it is actually running rich. (That isn't to say that you may have some component that is defective and it actually is truely rich.......)
Have you done a plug check??? If it is truely rich, the plug should be black. Is it still on warranty?? If so, what does the dealer say?
I know there is a way to reset the system, but I can't remember what it is. Get a service manual, and the procedure should be in there.

On a mapped efi system, a clogged air filter or restricted muffler can cause a rich condition.
I'd agree, check the plug, and that will give you a better indication if it is running rich.
Winter blend gas often has oxygenator additives in it, that can smell different.
