500 X2 motor oil amount ???
#1
Hi all..
I did my first oil change last weekend. I'm concern about the amount of oil we was supposed to fill in a X2 500 2007. Polaris said 2 quarts. At two quarts my motor need more oil to fill the upper line of the oil guage. I put little more than that...
Buy the way, I don't disconect the lower line. But I did the pumping oil pump procedure.
Anybody experience the same thing ???

You should always go by what the dipstick says. Use the specs in the manual as a starting point, and then add oil if needed. Just don't over fill it. It's better to be lower than the max line than over it.

Sheepdog is right. I have an 06 x2 and 2 quarts does me exactly in the middle of the 2 lines. If I was to be closer to either line, I would pick the bottom one. NEVER OVER-FILL
the oil!!!!!. I drain the crankcase and everything. 2 quarts is perfect.

what I dont understand is why do you have to worry about overfill on a dry sump system. the majority of the oil is out of the engine and the oil pump will only pump in and out a a certain rate. Then I thought about the external tank presure but that is releaved by the hose going to the air box plus it has a slit init. so how can it over presurize by too much oil. Even in drag car you can add a bigger external oil tank so you can use more oil to make things cooler.
PLEASE EXPLAIN!!! Im just trying to learn about dry sump and cant find this info. And trust me I know not to overfill I just dont understand why on a drysump. I complately understand why not a normal system
