Default battery voltage

Can someone check what voltage there battery maintains after sitting in the cold of winter for about a week or two. This is on my 07 sp 800. Mine seems to go down to about 11.8 and doesent start if it is 0 or below. I think mine might have froze back in january. Dealer says that is normal for small batterys like that Not to hold charge when it is very cold like 10 to 20 below 0. The charging system does bring it right back up to high 12s quickly. But when it sits it goes down to 11.8.

if the battery is fully filled w/ acid and fully charged it wont freeze at 0 degrees. in most cases the battery should hold its charge pretty much. its CCA(cold cranking amps) that all the differnce in the world. last yr i left the battery in my 06' 800 all winter long and it set for 5 month with out touching it and it started in the spring w/ in 3 seconds.

When i was talking about my battery possibly froze it would have been low on voltage at the time. Just wondering it i might have to replace it soon. So is everybodys battery holding over 12 volts when it sits?

Mine sits right at 11.9 right now.... Just checked it.....I ran the machine yesterday.......The battery is a brand new Odyssey so I think if yours is hanging at 11.8 after sitting for a while I don't think that's too bad.....Mine also sits in a garage 24/7.....

Yea I ran my winch for plowing yesterday too.....Then I put the machine back in the garage when I was done.... So that 11.9 is probably on the low end.......It usually sits at around 12.6...

While running at about 3000 rpms you should have 14.5 or so. Mine has never had any problem starting even @ -10 but do let it warm up before going.

the biggest thing that kills the battery is using a winch and not using the bike after for a period of time so it can charge it back up. these charging sysytems just dont have alot of extra power to recharge a battery very fast.
