Available 250 is semi automatic (Clutchless) allowing one hand free to spray weeds or hold a rifle. The brilliant 250cc air-cooled Engine is also equipped with a recoil starter as back up in the advent of the battery going flat so that the engine can still be pulled back into life. This model has also been sold in Australia by a reputable Japanese brand whom is a share holder in JIANSHE CHINA.

Since he's not an agressive rider than the auto would probably work best. Especially if by 'not agressive' you also mean that he's not the most skilled rider. Having an auto gives him one less thing to have to worry about - always in the right gear etc. AC has one (made by Kymco) that looks pretty good - high and low range and pretty peppy.
