Whats it worth ? 02' Polaris 325 Trailboss
#1
I have a lady at work that has a 02' 325 trailboss that is in very good condition and she is the only owner. But she says that when you put it into reverse nothing happens and it started out that it would go sometimes and then it would gring and then now it doesn't do anything at all. Is this that big of a deal ? I am very mechanically inclined , is it that big of a deal and what usually goes wrong when this happens ?
About how much would this atv be worth in the condition described ?
Thanks,
D.
BTW:
The reason I am considering this is that my 12 year old daughter ( been riding since she was 3) is wanting an atv with the "shifter up on the fender and I don't have to shift gears" . She has ridden all dirtbikes, atvs and even rides my Honda 400ex every once in awhile but would prefer the above for a setup of her choice.

The reverse issue isnt that bad.The clip that holds the reverse gear in place has come out.
Price wise I would build up the fact that the tranny is "bad" and offer $600. or so.In excelant shape this would be worth $1000-$1600

I also am thinking it is probably the clip but I am preparing for the worse. How about putting on the clip and then tack welding it so it can't come loose ?
I also have a good 96' 400 sport transmission, what would happen if I swapped it out ? Is there any benefit or problems ?
Thanks,
Raz

You can tack weld the clip in.I always use a new clip and a small washer. Also check the bushing in the gear it can get worn and kick against the clip.
the 96 tranny wont work.

any ideas on part #'s and how hard this is to do? My dad has a 325 that this has happened to (at least that is what it sounds like). Where is this located? I tried looking thru the schematics at bikebandit but those can be very vague.
Is there any possibility that his could be as simple as adjusting the linkage.
Also he just told me that sometimes before it quit working that when you put it in reverse it would stall....with the override button pushed it would stay running and drive in reverse.
Now there is no reverse period.

THe stalling would be a bad reverse limiter (bypass it by unplugging the blk wire I think it is but not sure on one that new)
If it wont shift into rev the clip has popped out and the tranny will need to be pulled
