Default Question about polaris sportsman oils

A friend of mine just bought a 2006 Polaris sportsman 800 and he is wanting to do all the service work himself because trying to save money. I was wondering if he has to run all the polaris fluids in it or can he run convential motor oils in it such as castrol? Thanks for any help you might have.

definitely run synthetic oil -- the oil temps get too hot for conventional. if you are in warmer climates, you can get away with 5w30 or something like that-- but only if your min temp is ~30F. However, by the time you buy mobile 1 or othe synthetics, you pay as much as the polaris oil.

OK, this is just what i wanted to find out because sometimes i know it important to run the corect brand of oil and like was said if you have to buy synthetic as it is you might as well buy polaris oil and know you hae the right fluids.

Thanks guys, sorry for the dumb question but im not up on the polaris machines.
