Default Fattest...Tallest rear tire?

Its not for looks, but for ground clearance. What is the tallest rear tires that you guys have run on a DS....with IMS heel guards. Looking for more ground clearance for one weekend trip a year! The 20 inch Ohtsu's don't cut it and I'm riding with a bunch of UTES!

PS...any one have any used ones laying around?

I'm quite Pleased with my Dirt Devils - they are tall, wide and I have yet to get stuck with them. They are 22x11x10's on Douglas .190 rims. The first number is for the tire height, so my tires would provide 1" more gorund clearance over the ohtsu's (Tire is 2" taller).

The second number is for the width and the 3rd is for the rim size.

The 22" size is more of what you are looking for - rather than a specific tire. The 22's have plenty of room with the stock guards - not sure about the IMS guards. I could probably even get away with 23's without any rubbing.

Keep in mind, when you change tire size, you need to change gearing to keep the same performance.

I bought a set of Ching Shin knobbies from Rocky Mountain that are 25" and you can blow them up tall of run short. Good traction and they are pretty cheap

Go with a 22" tire it will give you more ground clearance that the DS needs. Don't go wider then an 11 though. An 11" wide tire will still sit flat on the stock DS wheel. The wider tire will hump up in the center. Less tire on the ground = less traction.

I have been using a set of ITP 22x11.00/9 for the last year and love them.

OK guys....thanks for the input but I'm quite aware that 22inch rears are what the DS needs. I'm trying to find what you guys have used for a "Jacked Up 1970 Nova" feel. This is for a 1 weekend a year trip where we ride that my skid plates take a beating! Looking for more info like Mr Meaner mentioned!
