AWD not working in reverse
#1
I just bought a 1996 Polaris 300 Explorer. AWD working fine in forward gears. Light goes out when you put it in reverse. Is this normal or do I have a problem? If this is correct anyone ever bypassed it so the AWD works in reverse. Sure is hard to get out of mud in two wheel reverse.

To bypass the reverse need for the override button in AWD:
Find the wires going to/from the AWD switch. The Gray/White stripe wire is the one that comes from the gear position switch. Splice into this Gray/White stripe wire with a source from any Red/White stripe wire (this is power when key switch is turned on).
This will allow for AWD in any gear (as long as the AWD switch is engaged) without having to use the Override button. The Override button still will function for the reverse safety.

It works, my atv is on the trailer so I just turned the key on, put it in reverse and when I pressed the override the AWD came on. Thanks By the way, last weekend I sunk it. If I had know about the reverse I might have saved myself a lot of work and money. Polaris is good but will not run on water.

Sometimes it pays to read the owner's manual....You learn things that can help you when you get in situations like that...I even carry mine with me....

I hope you didn't take that the wrong way....I wasn't trying to say that in a rude way...It's just that there's alot of good info in the manual...Is there anyway you can get a hold of one?

I purchased it used, no owners manual. Thanks anyway</end quote></div>
If you register on the Polaris web site, you have access to the owner's manual free of charge. You really should take a look at it.
