Default which way does the oil filter go? no marks

Guys I have a 2006 Rancher 4x4 TRX400FA. The oil filter is the circular paper cartridge filter that is just replaced. I keep reading that there is a right and wrong way to put the filter in. I have looked and can tell no difference in the either end, there are no marks on the new filter or the old one indicating which way the flow is. Both ends are identical. Can someone please help. Do the 05-current models not require the filter go in a specific way. By the way, I bought the Honda filter.

I would hold off on putting it in till someone with a Rancher chimes in cause I have an 05' 400ex and mine can be put in backwards. I get mine from Honda and it tells on the filter ends the way it goes. Just to be on the safe side.

The filter will go either way .. Don't forget the washer (spring seat washer) & the spring .. The washer will be stuck to the old filter and you have to remove it to re-use it ..

The TRX400FA/FGA oil filter will go either way ..It has the rubber seal on both ends .. Just don't loose the washer/ spring seat ..

Here is a quick pic of the filter for the TRX400 Rancher
