i have an 87 trx 250r i pulled out of storage and went to start it and i'm not getting any spark. Found the wires from the ignition switch broke. i put them back together but am still getting no spark.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It was just over a year since the last time it ran but it ran good then

 

this might be a stupid question to ask but are you grounding the plug while you are kicking it over? Only asking because i watched my friend do it on his 250R. Hopefully it is that easy. if not good luck.

 

was holding the plug right to the cylinder head. ran through all the ohm readings and it all checks out right. sounds like the cdi is bad but i cant believe it would go bad out of the blue. it ran great the last time i ran it

 

 

my cdi box crapped out on my 250r randomly. That would be my guess as to your problem.

 

try tapping on it with a screwdriver handle. mine is starting to go bad. died a couple times last weekend. beat on the cdi fired right up. if you can tap on it and get it to spark a little, it might conferm your diagnosis.
