Brake Fluid Resevoir Question
#1
I have a 2005 Sportsman 500 with the cheap plastic brake fluid resevoir cap that leaks. I understand this is a notorious problem for Polaris. When I was at the Polaris dealer yesterday, I noticed the new 2008 models use a different more robust brake fluid resevoir cap.
Does anyone know if I can purchase a new 2008 brake fluid resevoir cap, and put it on my 2005 (just the cap - not the cap and resevoir)? If so, it seems like a quick, easy, and cheap way to fix the leak by simply buying the latest cap.
I appreciate your feedback.
Thank you

I am almost positive the new cap won't work on the old reservoir. I have three of the old ones and none of them leak. Maybe yours needs a new gasket or is cracked?
I also have a new one, and the old ones have better brake feel and are easier to pull, almost like power brakes compared to the new one. If it was mine I would try to fix the one you have. The brake handle on the new one is also shiny silver and looks out of place since it is the only thing on my SP that is that color.
