I ran in some deep water this weekend. Well not really ran in more like swimming in. I went into a mud hole that was really deep. It was up to my seat. It stalled my 2003 grizzly out. Well after draining out the exhaust (by tilting it back), I drained the belt and clutch housing some dirt was in the housing. Checked the oil and there was no water in the oil. It took about a hour for it to start running. It would start but when you gave it gas it would stall out. About a hour later it started running normal a little belt slipping but after a liuttle running it started running good. What else should I check? Thanks for your help

 

Change the oil just in case check the diffs also the vents could have let water in.If the oil is foamy or just doesn't look right Change it.And remember Bears need a snorkel to swim underwater.

 

Did it pull any water through the carb?

 

Just clean your air filter real good and add a bottle of "Heat" to the gas tank. You can get it for 2 bucks at the auto parts store. I would also change the oil like 05 BigBear said, 4 quarts of oil and a filter is allot cheaper than a new motor.

 

I don't think so but it was hard to start as I stated. but once it started letting me give it gas it ran great. i was about 4 hours away from our vehicles. I kept the gas going until it stalled when i put it in rev. When I 1st hit the hole i did not know that it was that deep. I rolled off the edge of a shadow water hole and it rolled over on its right side. I was able to get it back on all 4 tires fast and it was still running but the exhaust was underwater. it would not go forward so I put it into rev and it stalled out. it did have alot of water in the exhaust and water in the belt housing. there was a little water in the air cleaner housing but i don't think it went into the carb. does anyone know how to post pictures on your site. you might want to pull the clutch housing and clean the grease out of the primary and repack it.
