100 octane perol (gasoline)(asgas)
#1
Hey guyz! was at our local airport for small planes and crafts today and saw a few guys filling there quads up with petrol (gasoline) from the station there, the octane level of it is 11. its also known as asgas. anyway i asked them why the use that instead of normall gasoline and they told me it cleans out the bikes engine and gives it more performance. is this true? and also does it cause any damage? and also on the ds 65o's on the gas cap it sas gaoline of 91 octane rating recommended.
Thanx and sorry for the long post

Are you sure it's not AVgas? If it is, I've used it for awhile now with no problems. It's not needed unless you have high compression. Running the minimum octane to prevent detonation is the best for performance. If you don't need the octane dont use it, if you need high octane and don't want to buy race gas then give it a try.

I agree, you only need it if you're going to higher compression. I have a bud who works at a small local airport as a pilot/mechanic. He brought us several gallons of FREE AVgas out to the dunes on easter. It was like 100 or 102 octane and it ran just like the 100 octane pump gas I get. It was sweet to get free gas!

Ditto ditto i know several guys that run avgas the only thing i have ever heard is shorter valve guide life. But to be honest i have not seen any bad side effects.

We use to run it in hotrods that had high compression. Not cheap but usually cheaper than race gas.
Local airport caretaker retired and the new guy wouldn't let you drive up to the pump and pump it into your car so we had to get it in cans from a sympathetic pilot which was a pain in the butt.
