I have a vent tube coming out of the case on top . The tube branches into two with one that has a plug on the end the other is open.
Will someone explain what is the purpose of this?
I am putting the motor on a trail bike and am thinking of shortening it.

just to vent gasses and make it harder for gunk and water to get in, I just cut mine real short and use a hoseclamp to attach one of those little breather filters that look like K&N filters that you can get from an auto shop. not waterproof but I avoid the soupy stuff anyway.

 

I know about venting but why do they have a Y and one plugged on the hose?
