griz cutting out

Default griz cutting out

2004 grizzly has always ran perfect and the last few days it started acting like it is hitting the reverse/lock limiter even when it is not even in 4wheel drive or reverse. When it cuts out the reverse light comes on so both the H light and the R light are on. I tried pushing the override button and it did not help. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad revrse switch. should be on top of the motor under the air box/carb just unplug it and see if it goes away, but beware then you will have no revrse limter.

I tried unhooking the reverse switch. The (R) light stays on then and it cut out worse. Does that need to be grounded to test this problem? I put it in dif lock and that limiter sputters different and the override works for that one.

cant remember where i put my owners manual,but i seem to recall that a flashing reverse light is a warning indicator for a specific issue

Thanks Cluby, you hit it right on the head. It runs perfect with that wire grounded, I will get a reverse switch on the way.

The root of the cause is the brass washer on the reverse switch is too thick and doesn't provide good contact. They have a replacement part.
