Default griz cutting out

2004 grizzly has always ran perfect and the last few days it started acting like it is hitting the reverse/lock limiter even when it is not even in 4wheel drive or reverse. When it cuts out the reverse light comes on so both the H light and the R light are on. I tried pushing the override button and it did not help. Any ideas?

thanks
Steve

Sounds like a bad revrse switch. should be on top of the motor under the air box/carb just unplug it and see if it goes away, but beware then you will have no revrse limter.

I tried unhooking the reverse switch. The (R) light stays on then and it cut out worse. Does that need to be grounded to test this problem? I put it in dif lock and that limiter sputters different and the override works for that one.

Thanks Cluby, you hit it right on the head. It runs perfect with that wire grounded, I will get a reverse switch on the way.

thanks again

The root of the cause is the brass washer on the reverse switch is too thick and doesn't provide good contact. They have a replacement part.
