Looking to buy a 90: MIC or used "Big 5" brand
#1
I work with a 4-H ATV safety program and we are looking to purchase a 90 to use as a demo and for some classes we are doing.....many have suggested we purchase a Chinese-made youth ATV but I am sorta skeptical just because of some of the problems I have heard about. I would much rather have an older reliable model that I could get parts for when needed. Just wanted to check general opinion. I've read these boards for while just now joined since I had a specific question
Any advice or help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Side note: A local guy is trying to sell me a 84 Yamaha 90 that bored out to a 110 for $400...deal or no deal??

Most of the kids in our program will be between 8 and 15...with our safety class we do have to follow the size requirements when the kids ride. I have access to a 50 and a 125 for class. I have really no more than $650 to spend on a 90. So I'm exploring the options of a Chinese model or finding a older used one for sale.

i would not recommend a chinese 90cc for the age group of 8-15 year olds, the chinese 90cc are made for the age group of 6-8 years olds because of the size, for your age group look at the v-bike 110CC-H made by taotao. this atv will suit your propose well, it is bigger, has a fully automatic transmission, 12 month warranty, remote engine stop, and so force. price is $660 delivered. i've seen dealers advertise these on graigslist for $599. here's a linkText

An LT80 would be better than some chinese junker. Im sure you want this quad to last more than one season.

While the LT80 would be a good choice, per the CPSC guidelines that he has to follow, it will be too big for any of the under 12 age group.
I always recommend buying a used name brand over a new Chineese, but given his budget I think he made the right (ie, only) choice.
