Two things come to mind.
Check the valves again and/or do a compression check.
And you might be lean for some reason also.

Could be lots of things, but these two would be first on my list.

Could also be spark timing. But I don't know what you took apart.

ii checked the valves again ni got good compression all i took apart was the left side of the case to put a new starter clutch in put it back together without the woodrithf key on the crank and knocked it out of timing so tore it back apart put the key back in the crank and took the valve cover off to set the timing the only thing is i used an aftermarket starter clutch that was garrunteed not to break for life n im not sure if that has nething to do with it

Your new starter clutch should have nothing to do with the backfiring. All the new starter clutch is doing, is enabling the engine to be turned over. The big mistake was leaving out the woodruff key the first time it was put back together. It still still sounds like the timing is WAY off if it is backfiring through the carbs. It's firing when your exhaust valve is closed, and your intake valve down, so completely backwards.
