blaster too small for 200lb rider?
#1
Money is tight...he's looking to spend under 1k.
We found a 96 blaster that supposedly (haven't looked at it yet) runs good and looks good for $800.
Riding is strip mines, hill climbs, jumps, and woods/trails. He doesn't have to be the fastest of the pack by any means...
Will a stock blaster be way to small for him? (6'1", 200lbs)
I'm thinking throwing a lot of gear on it and it'll run good enough. thoughts?

Yeah my buddy is 6'1" about 205 lbs and he loves his Blaster. I ride it sometimes and it's fine for me - I'm about the same size as my buddy. It is a little small when you're used to the bigger bikes, but if that's all I could get I would buy it and ride the heck out of it.

Me and my buddy had blasters years ago. I'm 6'2 and wieghed about 170 and my buddy was 6'1 and about 200 hundred pounds. We had a blast on those things. They were a touch small but we still had fun. They are pretty peppy for just a 200cc air cooled engine. My buddy piped his and had the head ported. Would outrun my stock blaster and a buddies warrior. The only thing I hated about them was that the brakes were horrible. They use cable operated drums on the front and a cable operated disk on the rear. They switched to all disk brakes on the newer models. They also like to break the clutch cable alot.

He may be a little cramped, but he'll fit. I agree the brakes on those early years leave a lot to be desired. The good news is parts and hop ups are easily available. These motors can be built to have good power fairly cheaply. On the other hand, if routine maintenance wasn't kept up to date, any older quad is going to cost $$ as you replace bearings, bushings, brake pads, etc.

well thanks for the feedback everyone. He went and test rode it...and it's physically a little small, but enough power to haul him around...only problelm was the owner didn't have the title...which is required here in PA....so he passed for now.
he did find a suzuki 250R for 1k.....supposedly runs good...we'll ahve to see if it has a title or not.
