Is the speedo coming on when the key is turned on? Does the starter solenoid click at all?

The complete "power system" from the key is the red/white wires - there should be a circuit breaker shortly after the Red "feed wire" comes off the battery suppling power TO the ignition switch - but if the lights work, this is not your problem.
I would be more inclined to believe you have 2 separate issues.

Solenoid issue - take a short jumper wire and touch the battery + side to the small connector at the base of the solenoid
- if the solenoid turns over the starter, you have a wiring issue (if the solenoid clicks but doesn't turn the starter over, you need to find out if it is the starter or the solenoid keeping the starter from turning over - placing a screwdriver across the 2 large terminals on top of the solenoid should force the starter to turn over if it is good)
- if the solenoid does not work, well, the solenoid is the problem
