Stalls at takeoff, runs great, 20+mph
#1
Went riding the other day, my quad is a pain in the butt to get started. If I do get started, I have to rev it up like crazy and if I actually get it moving past 20-25mph it runs fine. Anything below 20mph makes it stall.
I understand that there are two different jets, can someone explain to me the purpose of both and how I can find them. I have a 2006 Polaris Hawkeye.
Thanks

there is a pilot jet, that controls fuel flow from idle to 1/4 throttle, then there is your main jet, it controls from just after 1/4 to wide open throttle, there is also a fuel screw on the carburetor that is usually covered by a brass plug, drill that brass plug out and turn the fuel screw in until it just seats then turn it out about 2.5 turns, this will help the takeoff and probably make it run better all around. carb is kind of a pain to take out, have to remove the rear plastics to do it.

Kerbbirds is exactly right. Another thing to look at is if you may have sucked some dirt up in the carb and maybe your pilot jet is plugged. I would suspect this first if it has been running fine until now with no new mods. Just remove the carb and clean the jets and make sure your air filter is clean as well as the area around it.

Mickelonis1, since you have an 06 Hawkeye, has yours been rejetted? While you may be experiencing a dirty carb here that just needs a good cleaning...you probably know by now, the 06s had carb issues and rejetting them to a 140 main jet and reseting the clip height on the jet needle along with reseting the pilot screw worked wonders!
There is a lot of info here on this if you do a search!
