2005 artic cat 500 auto atv
#1
I purchased a new 2005 artic cat 500 auto atv and went out for my first ride today. Bike ran great except when I put the bike ito high gear or in reverse. A few time the gears slipped and wouldn't engage. What is the problem and what can I adjust to fix it? Is this a common problem with this bike?

The best thing to do would be to get rid of the artic cat and buy a polaris. I had an artic cat and hated it. same problems plus a terrible ride! hope this helps.

It is probably a linkage problem. I don't know what you mean by slipping unless you did not have it in gear all the way. Get the linkage checked and then go out and start pulling all the Polaris atv's out of the mud holes. It is a fun sport around here. LOL Disregard what that other poster said. He might be a troll.

If you hate AC and got rid of yours and have a Polaris then why are you in an AC forum - simply to bash a machine.
If you are here simply to bash then I would suggest going to the Polaris forum and helping someone out because Polaris certainly needs help. They used to make a good machine but in the past few years they have dropped close to the bottom and that is FACT!!!! There is a major project with Polaris factory to try and bring them back. The factory even is aware of their blunders and are making extreme efforts to correct and fix the situations.
If you want to ride then buy an AC if you want to practice your repair skills then buy a Polaris....

If you want a Polaris that is ok with me. It is your money. I really don't care what you ride. My point was, don't be coming in an AC forum to bash. Everyone likes what they like for their own reasons. I have an AC and like it. If AC was not available I probably would have a Suzuki, CanAm or a Yahama. Polaris would most certainly be on the bottom of the list.
I have two personal friends for many years - one owns AC, Yahama. The other owns Polaris, CanAm. Even the owner of the Polaris says that they are troublesome machines and sells mostly CanAm. The guy that owns the AC, Yamaha sells far more than the dealer that has Polaris, CanAM. He also informed me that the AC, Yamaha is about equal in sales. Some years he sells more AC some years more Yahama's. AC and CanAm according to these dealers are very reliable and less troublesome than the others.
Being a newly HS graduate you probably don't know what you are talking about and only repeating someone else's claims that more than likely are not accurate.
I have read some of your post and you appear to be a trouble maker. If you can't come to the forum and contribute in a contructive way then why come at all.
And if you would take the time to read the other forums you may find that there are some major issues and with AC most are very minor by comparison.
If you want to be of real help then go hang out in the Polaris forum and give them your expert advice because they sure could use someone like you with all this vast knowledge. They don't care if the talk comes out of the same hole that feeds the toilet or your mouth, in either case it is useless garbage, and in some cases no more that noise and hot air.
