Default From 400 Scrambler to 450 Wolverine or 350 Predator

I have a pooplaris that burt the piston 3 times in 2 years. We now are looking into trading that ride for either a 450 Wolverine or 350 Predator. The wolverine would be more of a work horse while the other would be play.

Although the 2 I'm sure play differently is the speed in heavy sand that much different? Keep in mind the majority of riders will weigh 220+.

350 predator? you mean 500 predator, the predator is a polaris 500, and there fast bikes, 450 wolverines are nice sporty 4x4's that are fairly quick and handle better than bigger 4x4's but there top speed is only around 50 ish i think, if it were me id get the predator cuz of there speed lol

oooo, youll be happy with either one, you just gotta decide what kind of riding you want to do most, wolverine is sporty and 4x4 at the same time, while rappy is just sporty but faster more nimble, better for jumps, wheelies, tricks the rappy will also last longer too, and sand robs power out of bikes quite a bit, if you dont have a 660,700, or like a 450 its kinda boring

yea, we're going with the lower cc do to cost. We ride with a couple old blasters and when the 400 scrambler was running it'd run away from them all. We are also getting rid of a 250 trail blazer and buying 2 new rides. I was thinking of 1 of each but my brother and I (we went in half on both) are lazy. I want to go as fast as I can all the time but after a couple to many cocktails not shifting every corner is a plus.

Am I safe in thinking the 450 wolv will keep pace with the blaster?

Sure the 450 will keep up with the blaster. Will it be faster is a another question,no. If you want to go as fast as you can i would say buy a used raptor 660. A 350 in the sand is just not really enough if your a speed freak.

A couple of notes from someone who owns both (Scrambler 400 & Wolverine). In stock form, the scrambler accelerates faster (400 2-stroke vs 450 4-stroke = Scrambler has much more potential). Also, the top speed on the scrambler is higher (only ~50mph wolverine). Scrambler is MUCH more roomier for a 6' guy like me.

But... The wolverine is much lighter, more nimble, and a lot easier to navigate thru tight trails. The stock shocks are poor and bottom out easy on jumps - but after changing to Elkas the bike now jumps great.

Overall - both my wife and I like the wolverine better and it was a decent upgrade. But if you're looking to go fast, you'll need to dump some $$$ into a Wolverine (or consider one of the much faster Can-Ams).

Thanks for all the feedback from all of you. We went with the 450 wolv and after a couple trips around the trails we are extremely happy. I would like some suggestions on mods for it that would increase speed.

Also side a funny side note; Trails where we ride were flooded closing some trails. The open trails had areas of open water in which on our last ride for the weekend we caught up to some folks, one on a 350 raptor. The guy was in the wrong gear entering standing water and ended up stuck. I drove in with my strap in hand, backed up to his stuck machine and pulled him the next 30 yards out of the water. I'm not the greatest when it comes to shifting so that could've been me.

Once again I do appreciate everyones feedback.
