Honda 250sx starting issues
#1
I have an 85 Honda 250sx and my machine will no longer electronicly kick over. I can use the kick start to start it but it will not turn over using the electronic ignition button. I replaced the starter relay but to no avail. When you turn the bike on and push the start button it makes a clicking noise but wont turn over. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on. It doesnt seem to have any loose wires that I can tell from anyways. Any help would be great.

That sounds like a power supply issue
I would check the battery
Battery connections
If all good pull starter
Question
If headlight is on and you hit start button what happens
In specific what does headlight do

I dont think its a power supply issue. The battery is brand new. The headlight works fine nothing unusual. It usually kicks over on 2nd try usually. Runs fine when started. Everything seems normal except when you try the electronic start. All that happens is it makes a clicking noise in the starter relay.

Then check your connections
If all good and clean I would pull starter
The question asked
Regarding the headlight
Is a basic question to determine if starter is shorted
If headlight is on and hit start button and light goes way dim usually headlight will only kind of dim
If gets way dim and stays that way while holding start button then starter shorted
If no change in light
not putting power to starter
You could also still have bad battery or start solenoid
