if i am buying a stage 2 hotcam for my trx 450r do i need to make any other adjustments to my engine or will it run fine...port and polish?...?

 

It will still run ok, but you'll benefit more with other upgrades. The Rev Box that you already have installed is a plus, in fact a rev box is basically useless if you don't have other internal work done on the motor. A Port and Polish will benefit you greatly, make sure they include a 3 angle valve job (the valves will seat better and you'll have better intake and exhaust flow around the valves).

 

thanks. What do u mean about having them do the three angle valve job? i was gonna have my friend help me install it cause he has already installed one on his 450...

 

A three angle valve job is USUALLY included with a port and polish. It ensures that the valves seat properly (close completely) and it also lets air flow in and out of the head more effeciently. I have some papers here with perfect drawings and explanations of it, but it is hard to convey them to the internet without a scanner.

As far as replacing the Cam, it is not too difficult. The only tough part is lining up the timing marks with the head and keeping the chain tensioner loosened while trying to slide the cam gear on. Took me a while the first time I tried, but not too bad after a few tear downs. Make sure you have feeler gauges to check the valve clearances. You will also need a Valve Shim Kit if they need to be adjusted. Once again, it is very simple to adjust the valves, you just need the feeler gauges.
