dynojet kit vs buying individual jets from a dealer

Default dynojet kit vs buying individual jets from a dealer

I need a new jet for my 03 wolverine 350 4x4, and am trying to decide between buying a dynojet kit or just getting a jet from the dealer.

Is there any benefit to getting the dynojet kit? Are they dynojet jets any better then the jets I would buy from the dealer?

It just seems like $60 is a lot when compared to the price for individual jets from a dealer, so is it worth it? and why

I've heard good things about the Dynojet kits , but have never tiied them ; the advantage for the Dynojet kit is that you don't have to pull the carb to change the jets and if you ride in different elavations this is the one to go with !

But the factory jet kits cost less , and if you don't ride in extreme changes in elavation's ; then the factory jets would be the way to go !

In the end you will have to make the final call , so unless you have other replies from other members of the forums ; it's still your call !

Yes that was the Dial A Jet i was thinking about thanks for the correction Travis , my first quad always ran a little to rich and required at least 2 spark plugs a year , my 93' Suzuki LT4WD 350 KQ was perfect from factory ; and i never did get the first quads jetting right even though i rebuilt the carb 4 yrs. before i sold it to my brother in Nov. 2005 !......

Williebee was thinking about the Dial a Jet the Dyno jet kit comes with different needle for your slide and in some cases a lighter spring for the diaphram type carbs and all jetting instructions and they are a simple install and work great. Allot better than just putting a differant jet in.

They come with different main jets also. It will require much smaller main jets when using the DJ needle. The needle is designed with much more taper to allow a quicker rate of fuel flow and a more rich mixture over half throttle. This increased amount of fuel flow from the needle requires a much smaller main jet to run properly. It is possible to mix Yamaha dealer jets with the DJ needle, but it is much harder to fine tune it becuase it is hard to convert between the two. I don't recommend mixing the DJ needle with the Yamaha jets unless you have a lot of free time to figure it out. I think you will notice very slightly more throttle response from the bike with the DJ kit (from the needle) unless you can figure out which Yamaha needle will provide you similar gains. RoostItUp hit the nail right on the head. I wouldn't advise even trying to mix Mikuni jets with DJ needles [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
