Default Getting oil in my air box on my YFZ450

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? It is an 07. I read that Yamaha put a vent on the airbox and sometimes it leaks oil into it. I see the hole and the little black box next to the air box. Is there something wrong or is this a common thing? Is there a way fix this?

how much oil is it? If its more than just a little, you might have too much oil in it. (or you've rolled it over recently)

There is a vent tube that extends up from your engine that connects to your airbox. This is to allow any excess water vapor to escape when it seperates from the oil and evaporates. A lot of people seal this hole off on the airbox and run the line somewhere else because the damp air sometimes can affect the breathing of the bike...

yeah I just had this happen today actually, I took the bike to the carwash and when I was riding it home apparently the motor decided to spew oil into the airbox. I have read that this can happen but I don't know why. I was taking it in to be serviced anyway, they are going to check the compression, there was at least a half of a quart of water logged oil and it got into the carb, but I am not sure how much. It may have introduced some water into the cylinder. It was kinda popping when I was riding it. I cleaned everything up and taped over the inlet with the hose and rerouted the blow off hose. Dum design. Dum carwash.

Ok, thanks for the replys. Would setting it up on end cause that problem? Anyone else have this issue? Giesdog, did you have your serviced, and what did they say?

yeah I've never had a problem with standing it up I washed it like that and ridden it like that (went all the way back to the grab bar had to hit rear brake, but not before leaving a fair sized portion of aluminum on the street. didn't crash though just the wheelie bar/ grab bar).
Th dealer is backed up, i should have just checked the compression myself. It will be next week. I'll let you know.
