Buying Wolverine 350 vs. 450
#1
Howdy yall,
Just wondering if anyone could give me so info on the new Wolverine 350. I currently own a 450 for myself and am looking at a 350 for the old lady / one for a freind to ride once and while . I flat out love the 450.....great on gas, low maintenance, great looks, goes almost anyware, and rock solid DEPENDABLE. She will probably never need 4wd so I really don't see the need for spending the extra $1500 for it. My main question is...would I be safe to assume that it will be just like a 450 in two wheel drive? Comparable capabilities, fuel consumption, dependability, power, ect? I have a pipe, hauck clutch work, K &N air filter on my 450. It does around 60mph and I would like to get the 350 in the same ball park speed wise (same performance work + maybe a hotcam). I know the 350 is at least as bulletproof as the 450 and then some. So I am all for it in the reguard! I have the local powersports shop talked down to about 3k and some change out the door for it .....so can't go wrong there. Anyone have any feedback on the Wolvie 350 or any better suggestions?
Thx - BEER SEASON

There is a web site that lists what I assume is the manufacturers claimed stock HP at the crank. They list the 450 @ 26hp and the 350 @ 21hp. Just for comparison sake they list the grizz 700 @ 40hp. Here is a link to the sight.

The #'s are in KW for alot of them so here is another link to a convertion site

I have a 450, was riding and saw a guy who worked at a dealership in texas that had a 350. So i asked him about it and what he thought, siad it was way underpowered, but he had bought it for his wife and it fit her good, but it wasn't anything he would ride... so theres kinda of a idea, if its for the honey get it, but if you might ride it, or she rides like you do, get the 450...

Thats what I am kinda afraid of....it being underpowered. We do some riding here in Michigan at the Silver Lake Dunes and thats what really concerned me power wise. But on the same tokin the power to weight ratio is pretty close to the 450.....and I could tackle all the dunes on my 450 in 2wd with out too much trouble. Also, there are actully quite a few more power adders than are for the 450, since it's such a common motor. I also just like the fact that it's a simple and cheap to fix quad (shaft drive, air cooled, ect)....one less pain in the **** toy I have to spend an hour working on for every hour it gets ridden. Can you tell I used to own a banshee......haha

You are right about the reliability if it is still using the warrior top end. I had a 2000 warrior that I rode like I stole it for 4 years. I beat the crap out of that poor quad. All of my inexperienced friends learn to ride a manual trans on it. You know how that is......throttle all but pinned and a 5 min. clutch release.....you could almost smell the clutch cooking......Not knowing when to shift, one of my bone head friends had that thing wound up like a 2 stroke every time he rode it. But in that 4 years I changed the oil at the begining of every spring and that is it. I never even changed the stock spark plug on it and that is no BS.
The only problem I ever had with that machine is some times it didn't want to find neutral, but that was only when it was really hot like after a long slow woods ride.
