Quad is destroying batteries - help?
#1
I have a no name (seems to be from Chongqing Astronautic Bashan) quad that ruins it's batteries. The first one lasted about a month. It got drained, probably by the alarm circuitry, and I was able to charge it once using a battery charger I got from Target (just like this one: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn...EC1087CBD&lpage=none). I used it for a little while longer and it died again, and would not accept a charge. The charger told me that it had an internal short or bad cell.
I went to the local Yamaha store and had it tested, and they told me that it was indeed dead. So I bought a new battery. With the same results. I went to a different bike store, and they tested the new battery and said it was dead too. I asked them how that could be, and they said it's possible for the bike to destroy the batteries, but didn't have any details for me.
So I bought another battery and a battery tender. Same process. The battery tender worked fine at first and then later it would not charge the battery anymore.
So that's 3 batteries, and 2 chargers in a short period of time. I can't afford to keep doing this.
One possibly related detail - sometimes the bike would crank and crank but not start. I found that by being a little rough with the kill switch and turning it off and on a few times, it would allow the bike to start.
Other than these 2 issues, I have no complaints. The thing runs great when the battery is charged and the switch is on.
Any ideas on why I'm eating batteries?

I can't tell you why the battery is getting drained but the charger you have listed shows 10 amps. This will wreck a atv/motorcycle battery in a hurry. I don't use anything bigger than a 2-4 amp for the small batteries. They just can't handle the large amps.

This charger might be slightly different, since I got mine at Target.
Mine has 3 amperage choices - 2, 10, and 15. It also has choices of Wet, Gel, and AGM.
I charge using AGM at 2 amps.
