i hav a yamaha 250 timberwolf 96, and it is running horrible!! it is always stallen out and puttering really bad. oil is good, but i think it is eathr the carberator or it needs new spark plug wires.. but wat do u think?

I think you might be right.

 

start by cleaning carb, I don't think the spark plug wires are the problem
also check the jetting and make sure it is right for your altitude

Thats basic enough that you can do yourself. Get a carb rebuild kit for $30.00, 1 can of carb spray and a air compressor to help blow the old crap out while cleaning. I wish my raptor 660r project was as easy as yours. And by the way, make sure you count the turns out when removing the pilot jet adj screw on bottom of carb. This project for the beginner with little to no experience should take a few hours and that machine will run as good as new. Good Luck!
