04 650 V2 wont start. NEED HELP!!!!
#1
my cat's been sitting for about 5 months at a friends house and they lost the key. I went to pick it up and hot wired the ignition. Battery was dead so I had to pull start it. I got it started after 2-3 min and it ran ok. Got it loaded on the trailer, took it home and tried to start it again to charge the battery. It never started again. When I crank it, it sparks once and that's it. I can even hear it fire but it doesn't get anymore spark. Had the coils tested, they're good. Dont know what to do...please help!?!?

i had a similar problem when i boosted my 06 v-2. All that i spoke to said i probobly burnt out my cdi box. i installed a new cdi but it still would not fire. i had disconnected the battery a few times in hopes to reset a module but still would not fire and would not crank with the ignition switch. after a 300 dollar aftermarket cdi i simply unplugged the module which i believe operates the display. once reconnecting the module on the right side and reconnecting the battery the bike instantly started and hasnt had so much as a hiccup since. I cant come up with a reason why disconnecting the battery wouldnt solve the problem when all i did to the module was disconnect and reconnect.

aight, yeah I didn't boost this one. I know it sounds like it but after I got pissed cause my girl lost the key I just cut the ignition. my dad told me the next day he had a spare. so now I have to re-wire it. I think Im gonna get a new batter and now I have to get a new solenoid cause it fuked up when I was trying to start it. Im hoping that I didn't have to get a new cdi but I guess I might as well go ahead and upgrade...

sorry if i wasnt clear in the first message. the steps you should try first are
1. disconnect negitive battery cable
2. disconnect the connecters going into the dash module which is the right of the two modules while sitting in the seat.
3. leave disconnected for 1 or 2 minutes
4. reconnect module
5. reconnect battery
6. try to start
Does your start button work to crank it over?
Does the volt indicator flash when cranking?
The cdi box is an excellent upgrade. It eliminates the limp mode and reverse limiters. It also allows better starting and seems to add power. it also bumps the rev limiter. Most aftermarkets seem to be half the cost of a new piece from ac.

i am dealing with the same problem here i found in the diagram that there is a 1000 ohm resister on the ignition resistor. by passing that resistor what can happen? once i install the resistor will it be fixed or could i have fried something out?? anyone know

I had the same problem with these the key switch has a anti theft. On one of the wires coming from the key switch it should be 950-1050 ohms when testing have too look up the repair manual and it will walk you through how to test it.
