polaris 500 oil change
#1
I'm not too mechanically inclined but i'm trying to tackle changing the oil on my 08 polaris 500 x2. I found the oil plug on the oil tank but i'm not sure if I found the plug on the sump. I read some of the posts on here about this topic and think that I found the right plug but before I start turing wrenches, I want to make sure that the plug I'm turning is in fact the oil plug for the crankcase.
Anyone have a picture or diagram that clearly shows which plug is the one in the crankcase?
Thanks in advance

I see lots of bolts under the engine. If I'm looking at the right bolt, I shouldn't have to remove the skid plate. I just want to make sure it's the right bolt. Can you post a picture of the bolt?

Yea, I feel silly asking how to do an oil change, lol. But it would be great to see a video of someone changing the oil on a 2007 Sportsman 500 x2. It seems really easy, and that's what scares me....why does the dealership charge soo much??!! Is there anything special to do?....Is it easy to drain the wrong plug? lol If anyone has a link to a video or some more detailed info into oil change I would appreciate it! Thanks!

There is a 4 or 5 inch oval slot on the bottom of the frame, on the "passanger or right" side where your wrench fits, get on the ground and look up, you will see it. If you look from the right side by the foot well, look behind the foot brake lever and you will see the bolt, but you loosen it up from the bottom through that slot. There shouldn't be another bolt to confuse it with, and even if there was, you wouldn't hurt anything.
