Replacing recoil starter rope?
#1
On lawn equipment, I am able to pull the rope thru the handle, tie a knot, and move on. My 99 scrambler handle seems to have the rope magically held in there
My rope is frayed near the handle. How do I go about fixing it?

If rope not broken and spring ok,just pull rope all the way out, pull up knot from reel, cut and pull out while HOLDING reel to keep from unwinding. Line up hole in housing with reel hole, with needlenose pliers push in new rope assy, use small pick or screwdriver to pull up rope then tie knot. Slowly let recoil back into housing. If rope broken and spring unwound, just install rope assy, turn housing counterclockwise until you see notch in reel, lock rope in reel continue turning counterclockwise, while holding excess rope slack(about 6-7 turns). Unhook rope from notch and as you back up and align with case opening, slowly let rope wind into recoil.Should pull out and recoil all the way back to handle with no excess slack at handle.
